For members of the Fabergé Collectors Society, the Fabergé Collection has created an outstanding Easter Egg that is a very Limited Edition.* It stands 3.5 inches high in the stand and the Egg itself is 2.25 inches in height. Done in Deep Blue enamel guilloché and gold it is capped at apex and base in a design resembling a multi petaled flower with large crystals centered in each. Extending from the apex are gold stems ending in bell shaped figures at the opening of the Egg and then continuing as stems to the base of the Egg. The pedestal which supports the Egg consists of four panels each divided from the other by gold braiding which extends upward to form the actual holder of the Egg.
Open the Egg and inside on a 24 karat gold plated plinth sits a miniscule gold Easter Rabbit (5/8ths of an inch in height) pavéd in minute Austrian crystals. The detail in this is exceptional, even his paws are perfectly delineated. Rabbits always have been associated with hope and the renewal of life hence they are appropriate at Easter.
My description falls short of the real beauty of the Egg. It is very difficult to describe because there is nothing to which the forms can be related, but I will tell you that it is one of the most elegant Eggs that Fabergé has
created. In the book “Masterpieces From
The House of Fabergé “ by Alexander
Von Solodkoff, a new acquisition of mine, I
have just found an original photograph of this
Egg and, in fact, it was designed by Fabergé Workmaster
Mikhail Perchin sometime prior to 1899. There
is no other history on the Egg given by Von
Solodkoff excepting that it is in a private
collection in Switzerland.
Our price: $350.00.
*(This Egg is available only if you already belong to the Society or wish to join the Society in which case you can join through this Catalog by calling Elayne at 866-215-4438 toll free.)
