Actually a triple frame displaying the various shapes one inside of the other. Each shape is outlined in gold plated metal, and each matte is done in hand applied enamel guilloché, the red in a small wave motif and the white in a sunburst. The inner oval has Austrian crystal detailing in a large cross stitch pattern with the outer frames repeating the design but in gold rather than crystals. The frame was made in Saint Petersburg between 1896 and 1908. The photograph display area is an elongated oval 2 inches by 2.5 inches high.
