A one inch high replica of the Napoleonic Egg, designed
to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the
Battle of Borodino in which the Russian Armies
defeated Napoleon in the war of 1812. The exterior
of the miniature Egg is exactly as the original Imperial Egg, Russian
Military Insignias and the Romanov Double Eagle are featured in
the central panels. However, the surprise in the miniature Egg is
a tiny Eagle poised with outspread wings. Because of the size of
the Egg the multiple frames of the original surprise were not possible.
The Imperial Napoleonic Egg was given by Nicholas
to his Mother, the Dowager Empress Maria Fedorovna,
for Easter in 1912.
The miniature replica sits on a stand of Siberian
Jade with a pedestal base of enamel guilloché matching
the Egg. The Egg is cradled in the stand when
it is not being worn. The Egg has a tiny replica
of the Imperial Crown at its apex and
a tiny bale pierces this to make the Egg wearable.
It weighs 1 point 1 ounces not including the
stand.
Retail: $500.00. Our price: $449.90.
