The Mon Plaisir Letter Opener
The Romanov Eagle mounted on a ground of cobalt enamel guilloché with a surround of sparkling Austrian crystals is the hold for this handsome piece. The opener including the shaft is plated in 24 karat gold. A simple utility piece such as this has detail to it that only Fabergé gave to his work. The back of the lozenge that acts as the hold of the letter opener is chased in the same sunburst pattern that is used for the enamel guilloché. An example of the attention to detail that gave the House of Fabergé world renown.
