Limoges Porcelain encrusted in gold and worked in bas relief simulating chased gold. The lid has an elaborate cartouche formed by arabesques in the center of which is the Romanov Double Eagle crest. The work on this box has been so exquisitely executed that only by looking at the underside of the box would you know that it is not gold. I had to pick it up and look at the base to be certain that it was porcelain. Looking at it one would never be able to tell that it was not gold.

Inside is a burnished gold finish with the inscription "A remembrance of happy days spent together -- All my love."

The clasp has a large cabachon centered within a sweeping leaf setting.
